ECHO & Ultrasound Scans

ECHO & Ultrasound scans

The ECHO is used to diagnose heart conditions, or to monitor pre-existing conditions. It allows doctors to gather information about pump rate, flow and pressure, as well as view the chamber walls. Most importantly, the ECHO is non-invasive with no adverse effects.

Transthoracic

Basic Echogram or Ultrasound.

Transesophageal

Slightly invasive – a sensor is slid down the esophagus.

3-Dimensional

A video of the heart pumping.

Stress

A 3-D scan post physical activity.

Contrast

Using a chemical agent to increase contrast.

Ultrasound

Using sound waves above the human range of hearing to produce an image of the inside of the body.
