Dr. Paul Sykes

Specialty: Podiatry

Degrees: D.P.M. of Medicine | Doctor of Podiatric Medicine

Experience: Practicing Since 2003

Dr. Paul Sykes was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended St. Augustine High School and was a member of the marching 100 trumpet section. He graduated St. Augustine in 1991 and was accepted to Xavier University in New Orleans where he majored in Chemistry Pre-Med. Later, he transferred to Southern University of New Orleans where he majored in Biology Pre-Med.

While in college, he worked at the Blood Center in New Orleans as the night shift supervisor of hospital services, which granted him the ability to pay for college expenses. He realized he needed to pick a career in medicine that he would love and would fit his strengths and so he chose to become a Podiatric Surgeon.

The task of honing his skills led to a grueling four years at The California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, where he graduated in 2003. He was then accepted to a three year residency program in Kingwood, Texas which is what brought him to Houston. For the next three years, he perfected his craft and on September 13th, 2006 he opened his own practice in the 3rd ward of Houston. Starting a practice from scratch was probably the most difficult endeavor of his life. Now, in his 9th year of practice, he is stronger than ever, with a fairly new office on the outskirts of the Houston Medical Center.

Besides his personal practice, he is a Podiatric Residency Director at the University General Hospital, which includes seven residents from the first graduating class (June 2015). He is blessed with two children, his son Quentin, 13 and daughter Lauren, 8. He is also a 4 year colon cancer survivor, a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan, and his hobbies include golf and high end classic cars & motorcycles. Currently the doctor is a resident of Pearland, Texas.
