B-Cells in the Immune System

  New research finds evidence in people with lupus, that a portion of the “B-cells” in the immune system Mature the wrong way, this promotes inflammation rather than fighting it. “The findings, published online March 8 in the journal Immunity, could help in developing new lupus therapies, said senior researcher Claudia Mauri. She is a professor of immunology at University College London in the United Kingdom.” Previously, antibody-mediated depletion of B cells was shown to reduce new inflammation in patients with relapsing MS.
